This book is dedicated to the scientists and students interested in understanding the fundamentals and keen knowledge of floristic studies of plant diversity, The data given in this book is solely based upon field studies with a necessary understanding of technical details upon which such knowledge is based. Throughout the book, it has often been convenient to refer to floristic analysis of plant diversity, population or taxonomic description in terms implying reasoning faculties.

This book takes at various aspects concerning the fundamentals of floristic investigation of plant diversity and population. The parts of the book, heterogeneous in nature, were invited by the publisher and the authors are responsible for their statements. The accuracy of each part of the book was checked by the authors through the proofreading stages. The book covers a wide spectrum of issues related to the assessment of floristic fundamentals and different parameters for measuring plant diversity for any geographical region in the world. The reader will find current information and data obtained in field studies undertaken to assess the analysis of plant diversity and taxonomic descriptions of plant species.

We hope that this publication will be a useful document for studies, professionals and researchers of various disciplines related to different subjects Botany, Ecology, Biodiversity, Forestry, Floristic studies and Taxonomy. The book is a result of efforts by many experts from different fields. I would like to acknowledge the authors for their contribution to the book. I wish to offer special thanks to Prof. Manish Kumar Jain, Centre of Mining Environment, Department of Environmental Science & Engineering, IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India and Dr. Lal Babu Chaudhary, Senior Principal Scientist, Plant Diversity, Systematic and Herbarium Division, CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India for his exceptional help throughout the preparation process.
