The profound use of GPS based mobility devices has left enormous number of spatio-temporal trajectory traces which poses a valuable contribution to the developmental cum research activities based on these mobility traces. But the publication of these traces as such creates a great threat to the personal privacy. In this context, a privacy preserved way of publishing these spatio-temporal trajectories is very essential. This book “Privacy Preserved Data Publishing of Moving Object Trajectories” suggests some new approaches and methods to cater this problem without much data distortion and giving utmost care for the personal privacy.

This book is organized in such a way that a casual reader could be able to grasp the basic concepts and methods related to the moving object databases and the privacy preserved datamining and publishing. The first chapter describes about the fundamental theories and concepts related to the moving object trajectories and privacy preserved data publishing. The succeeding three chapters provides various approaches and methodologies in a privacy preserved way to achieve the anonymization of sensitive stay points that lies in the trajectory before publishing it for the public for further research or developmental activities, since the exposure of sensitive stay points will certainly endanger the personal privacy of the user. In the fifth chapter, we made an attempt to extent the methods which we have derived in the previous chapters to the traces of Covid-19 patients and also it works well with our combined concepts “Sensitive stay point Anonymization through Generalization” and “Temporal Perturbation”. Finally, we have put forward some of the avenues in this research area for the budding researchers of this field.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude towards many people who have contributed to the realization of this work in many ways. To commence with, we pay our obeisance to God, the almighty to have bestowed upon us good health, courage, inspiration, zeal and the light. We are immensely indebted to the anonymous reviewers of various International and National journals or conferences, which had made a remarkable influence on our entire work. Our sincere thankfulness is due to the faculties & researchers of SOCS, M. G. University, Kottayam and the Management and the faculties of S. A. S.  S. N. D. P.
