This book is an in-depth study of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) on Women’s Empowerment, specifically focused on the Anthyodaya Women Mutually Aided Co-operative Thrift Society Limited in Suryapet district, Telangana. By examining the operational dynamics and outcomes of the SHG, the study contributes to a deeper understanding of how localized cooperative Models can enhance Socioeconomic status, Promote financial independence, and foster Community Solidarity among women.
It is very important as the United Nations (UN) has set Seventeen Sustainable Development Goals for all its member countries to achieve by 2030. India is also a member of the UN [India is a charter of the United Nations and participates in all of its specialized agencies and organizations] and it is required to achieve these SDGs by 2030. Literature on SDGs pointed out that India is working on these goals and one of the SDGs addresses Gender Equality with a focus on women empowerment.
The author identifies the critical gaps and frames the innovative approach and comprehensive analysis with robust data (Primary data) that could lead the new methodologies or applications in the field. Before and after joining the Self Help Groups, Participants reported significant improvement in Self-Confidence, Communication Skills, Decision Making and Social Recognition. This Comprehensive analysis contributes to a better understanding of the role of SHGs in the development of Rural Indian Women.
The Government of India and the State Government Initiated Several Programmes to promote women’s empowerment and rural development through Self Help Groups. To promote the importance of Self-Help Groups functioning improving literacy, living standards and community development. Reducing poverty and creating self-employment.
