Since the establishment of a city, it has formed a close relationship with industries.  However, isolation and separation between the city and industries emerge during its development. If this problem is not well solved, the city may go bankrupt.  Therefore, the integration of industries and cities has become a new and major problem that needs to be carefully studied during the “urban society” period. The integrated development of industries and cities (IDIC) refers to the cooperation and benign interaction between industries and cities in the urbanization process, jointly promoting the sustainable and healthy development of the city, the progress of modern civilization and the quality improvement people’s life.

In recent years, studies on IDIC are relatively scarce. To fill this gap, promote IDIC in China, and provide suggestions for IDIC as much as possible, the author wrote this book with Chongqing as an example.

This book is divided into 4 chapters. Chapter 1 mainly elaborates cities and industries, including the essence, structure, function, scale of cities, and the intension, characteristics, classification and extension of cities.Chapter 2 mainly discusses the cases of IDIC in foreign countries and their characteristics, so as to provide reference for China’s urban development. Chapter 3 analyzes the overall situation of IDIC, in which in-depth discussion and analysis from the general situation, development practice, existing problems and development mode of China’s urbanization are carried out. As the last chapter of this book, chapter 4 studies the cases of IDIC in China. Limited to the author’s own learning and research experience, this chapter chooses Chongqing as an example to discuss the model innovation and countermeasures for IDIC in China. It mainly includes the analysis of the current situation of IDIC, the model and policy system of IDIC, and the countermeasures to promote IDIC in Chongqing.
